Laduree Marina Mall Dubai
Scope of Delivery
Interior Salon — Chairs — The Louis XVI medallion-back chair, in solid beech with vert d'eau finish and hand-applied antique gold leaf highlights, identical in silhouette to every Ladurée chair Dual Jade has produced. For Marina Mall, the interior chairs incorporate both the UV-protective nano-ceramic clear coat developed for Laysen Valley and the anti-microbial topcoat developed for Riyadh Park — a dual-function finish developed for a space where intense coastal sunlight penetrates deep into the salon through floor-to-ceiling glazing, and where a constant high footfall of international visitors brings heightened hygiene expectations. The blush pink cotton velvet seat pads are treated with the nano-level stain barrier already proven at Riyadh Park, with additional testing against sunscreen lotion — a specific request from the Dubai operations team, who observed that sunscreen transfer from guests' arms and clothing was a significant maintenance challenge in coastal locations.
Interior Salon — Tables — Custom café tables in solid beech with tabletops in Carrara marble, honed to a matte finish to reduce glare under Dubai's intense light. Two sizes, as at Riyadh Park, with the smaller tables positioned along the glazing where space is tighter and views are prioritised.
Waterfront Terrace — Chairs — The outdoor version of the Louis XVI chair, in marine-grade powder-coated aluminum. For Marina Mall, the outdoor chair specification was elevated beyond any previous Ladurée project. The four-layer coating system (white primer, vert d'eau base, hand-applied gold leaf effect, UV-stabilized clear coat) was supplemented with an anti-corrosion zinc-rich undercoat beneath the primer — a response to Dubai Marina's unique microclimate, where fine salt aerosol from the marina water and the open Gulf just 500 metres away creates a corrosion environment significantly more aggressive than Riyadh's inland desert. The seat pads are in the same blush pink solution-dyed acrylic outdoor velvet as Laysen Valley, but with the addition of a hydrophobic treatment applied post-weave to resist the salt moisture that accumulates on outdoor furniture overnight.
Waterfront Terrace — Tables — Outdoor café tables in powder-coated aluminum with solid surface tops, weighted for stability in the shamal wind that can gust through the marina in winter months. The tables incorporate the micro-channel drainage system developed for Laysen Valley.
Private Dining Salon — An enclosable space for family gatherings and private events, furnished with custom dining chairs in the Louis XVI profile. Here, the upholstery departs from the blush pink standard: the chairs are upholstered in a deep midnight blue velvet — a colour selected by the Dubai design team to evoke the marina's night water, and a first for Ladurée in the region. The family table seats ten, in solid beech with a single slab of honed Carrara marble.
Patisserie Counter & Retail Wall — The counter façade in solid beech, vert d'eau with gold-leaf paneling. The macaron display arc is angled to capture the gaze of marina promenade pedestrians as well as mall visitors. Integrated warm LED lighting at 2700K with CRI 97+. A full-height retail wall displays gift boxes, accessed via a brass library ladder — the same quiet-glide system developed for Riyadh Park, but with the ladder's brass deliberately finished to develop a natural patina over time in the coastal air, a small material narrative unique to the Dubai location.
Customization Highlights
The zinc-rich anti-corrosion undercoat was a response to site-specific corrosion testing conducted in collaboration with the project's Dubai-based architects. Salt spray chamber testing — replicating the marina's microclimate — showed that standard marine-grade aluminum coatings developed micro-pitting within 800 hours. The zinc-rich undercoat extended this to over 2,000 hours, ensuring the outdoor chairs maintain their vert d'eau finish without visible degradation through Dubai's high-salt summer months.
The sunscreen-resistant seat pad treatment was developed through a series of abrasion tests using eight of the most commonly sold sunscreen brands in the UAE. Each was applied to velvet samples, left for 30 minutes, then subjected to a standardized cleaning protocol. The final nano-barrier formulation showed complete resistance to sunscreen staining and transfer across all eight brands.
The midnight blue velvet for the private dining salon required a unique dye process: a deep indigo base over-dyed with black to achieve a blue that reads black under candlelight and blue under daylight — a deliberate ambiguity that the Dubai design team felt suited the space's dual identity as both a formal dining room and an intimate family gathering space.
All outdoor furniture fasteners are 316L stainless steel, as at Laysen Valley, but with an additional passivation treatment to enhance resistance to the chloride-rich salt aerosol specific to the Arabian Gulf coastline.
The terrace chairs are fitted with a soft-close stacking bumper, developed specifically for Marina Mall — a silicone ring embedded in the frame profile that prevents the metal-on-metal contact that would otherwise mark the powder coating during the rapid setup and breakdown of terrace configurations between day and evening service.
