Laduree Solitaire Mall Riydah
Scope of Delivery
Main Café Salon — Chairs — The signature Ladurée chair, recreated by Dual Jade's artisans. Each chair frame in solid beech, hand-carved to replicate the maison's historic Louis XVI medallion-back profile, with its characteristic oval, fluted legs, and ribbon-like top rail. The chairs are finished in vert d'eau — Ladurée's unmistakable pale celadon green — with the carved details picked out in antique gold leaf. Seat pads are upholstered in blush pink heavyweight cotton velvet, piped in matching green trim. Every chair is a small monument to the kind of precision that does not announce itself: the carving depth calibrated so the gold highlights catch the light but never glare, the seat height adjusted so the posture is upright without stiffness, exactly as required for the ritual of tea and conversation.
Main Café Salon — Tables — Custom café tables in solid beech with carved apron detailing echoing the chair medallions. Tabletop surfaces in white Carrara marble with a softly eased edge profile. The bases are finished in vert d'eau with the same antique gold highlights, each table a self-contained stage for a porcelain cup, a silver teaspoon, and a single macaron perched on its saucer.
Enclosed Family Seating Area — Custom booth seating in blush pink heavyweight cotton velvet, with button-tufted backrests divided into rhythmic panels. The booth frames in solid beech, finished in vert d'eau with hand-applied antique gold beading along the top rail. Seating proportions adjusted to accommodate the Saudi preference for deep, generous seating that encourages lingering conversation. A single long banquette extends along one wall, with the tufted pattern precisely aligned so the eye follows it without interruption.
Patisserie Counter & Retail Display — The counter façade in solid beech panels with recessed framing, finished in vert d'eau. Gold leaf detailing defines the panel borders. Integrated display shelving with warm LED lighting illuminates the rows of macarons, each flavor recognizable by its jewel-like color alone. Bespoke wall-mounted display units in the same palette hold Ladurée's signature gift boxes — the pale green cartons that have become a luxury object in their own right.
Outdoor Terrace Seating — Weather-resistant café chairs in powder-coated aluminum, finished to match the vert d'eau and antique gold palette of the interior. The outdoor chairs replicate the core silhouette of the interior Louis XVI chair but in a lightweight, UV-stabilized, marine-grade form engineered for Riyadh's extreme summer temperatures and occasional sandstorms. Outdoor café tables in matching finish, with solid surface tops resistant to heat and fading.
Customization Highlights
The Ladurée chair is one of the most recognizable silhouettes in patisserie — a failure of proportion or finish would be immediately visible to any guest who has visited Ladurée on the Champs-Élysées, in Saint-Germain, or in any of the maison's locations across the Gulf. Dual Jade's artisans worked directly from Ladurée's technical specification package, and the first sample set was flown to Paris for approval by the maison's design director. Six iterations of the gold leaf application were trialed before the precise level of patina was achieved — bright enough to read as gold leaf under the mall's ambient lighting, muted enough to avoid any suggestion of garishness.
A dual paint system was developed exclusively for this project: all vert d'eau surfaces received a matte base coat for depth of color beneath a satin topcoat for wipeability in the high-traffic café environment. The antique gold highlights were applied by hand, leaf by leaf, brush by brush, by a single senior finisher assigned to the project for its entire duration.
The enclosed family seating banquette was custom-proportioned to the booth dimensions communicated by the project's Riyadh-based interior design team, with the seat depth extended by 35mm and the backrest angle relaxed by 4 degrees to accommodate the local preference for extended, leisurely seating.
Outdoor terrace furniture was specified with a dual-layer powder coat — vert d'eau over a white primer — tested to resist color shift under Riyadh's 50°C summer peaks. All fasteners in 316 stainless steel to withstand the fine desert dust that penetrates standard outdoor fittings.
All upholstery velvet underwent independent abrasion resistance testing to withstand the café's continuous daily turnover. Each chair seat pad is secured to the frame with concealed screws, designed for easy removal and replacement by the mall's maintenance team without specialist tools.
